1800 Central

Located in the heart of Charlotte’s Plaza Midwood neighborhood, the 1800 Central Avenue project is a 27,000-square-foot mixed-use development featuring a combination of office and retail space. Completed by C. Herman Construction in 2021, the project reflected the continued growth and evolution of the surrounding community.

Following completion of the core project, C. Herman Construction relocated its headquarters from Concord to Charlotte, establishing its office on the third floor with views overlooking the Charlotte skyline. The building also includes completed office and retail upfits for additional tenants, including Southern Strain Brewing’s Charlotte taproom on the first floor.

C. Herman Construction remained headquartered at 1800 Central Avenue until 2025, when the company outgrew the space and relocated its headquarters to Charlotte’s NoDa neighborhood to support its continued expansion.

a word from our client

Central is a speculative office building that had financing in place which required the developer to meet a specific budget. We contracted with Chris Herman Construction on a design build basis and the entire team dug in to find a design that met the budget but would also appeal to a sophisticated market. The CHC and design team worked together seamlessly to creatively value engineer the project in such a way that maintained both the functionality as well as the design integrity.
